The Super Bowl is here! Many have gone out of their way to try and make this a less than super, Super Bowl, but don’t be had - this should be one hell of a game. Either way, history will be made. Either the “best team of all time” will get beat by a wild-card form the NFC, or the Patriots will light up the scoreboard for the first 19-0 season of all time.
The Chargers get another run at the Patriots, a season after giving the game back to Tom Brady and watching the Patriots’ defense do Shawne Merriman’s dance at mid-field in San Diego. Not only that, but the Patriots smacked…
What do you know? It didn’t matter that the Pack ended up behind the Cowboys in the NFC, as it turns out, the NFC Championship will come through Green Bay after all. The Cowboys found out the hard way, the third time is indeed…
After getting ousted by the Patriots last season in the 2nd round, the Chargers will play their hand against the other AFC powerhouse, the Indianapolis Colts. Peyton’s arm versus LaDainian’s legs, sounds like a fun show to me. As for the NFC game on Sunday, the Cowboys host the Giants in the 3rd match-up between these teams this season. Will the 3rd time be a charm for the Giants? Or will the Cowboys continue to dominate this match-up?
Brady’s Bunch hosts the Jaguars in the 2nd game on Saturday while the Seahawks snowshoe into Green Bay to play the Packers and the immortal Brett Favre. I think these are 4 of the best 6 teams in the league, so get your boots all strapped up, these should be a couple of old school battles.
Sunday’’s showdowns will highlight one of the league’s greatest players versus one of the league’s youngest stars, and two teams that nobody is giving a chance. Tennessee heads into San Diego for the late game while New York visits Tampa Bay in the early game on Sunday. I have a feeling we could see something crazy on Sunday.
The NFC and AFC get down and dirty on Saturday when the NFL playoffs open up with an NFC battle on the West Coast in Seattle and an AFC war on the East Coast in Pittsburgh. The Visiting teams will be Jacksonville and Washington, two solid clubs that are riding a little thing I like to call momentum. Will the home teams prevail? Only time will tell.
A couple huge playoff pictures will be taken on Sunday, and the following teams will all be a part of the action - yes, there are still teams fighting for their playoff lives, and much of their chance rides on Tennessee’s Sunday Night showdown with Indy. These 3 games are all more impressive to me, but you can bet all eyes will be watching the Colts and Titans in the last game of the regular season. Vikings, Redskins, Browns and more - check out the Best Games of the Week right here.
NFL Games of the Week:
Minnesota Vikings @ Denver Broncos: 4:15pm EST: 12-30-2007
Dallas Cowboys @ Washington Redskins: 4:15pm EST: 12-30-2007
New Orleans Saints @ Chicago Bears: 4:15pm EST: 12-30-2007
And here it is the absolute last game of the regular season. By the time this game is over, draft positions will be set for most of the teams in the league. Mock drafts will start coming out almost immediately and the speculation and train tracks toward the off-season will begin construction - but there’s still football to be played. Everyone knows the playoffs are where the best football is played, and this is the final party before the big show. Enjoy the ride as Tennessee puts it all on the line for their playoff lives against a Colts team that doesn’t have much to win or lose on Sunday, but they can make sure they don’t see the Titans again - it should be interesting.
All the football fans will be watching one of the two major networks (CBS or NBC) that will be televising a possible shot at history when the Patriots go to New York to play the Giants on Saturday Night. The Patriots could become the first team to ever go undefeated in a 16 games season, and only the 2nd team ever to finish the regular season without a loss. As far as playoff seeding goes, this game means nothing - but don’t be confused, there is something on the line on Saturday.
There are a few games that will eliminate contenders and clear up the playoff picture this weekend, and I can’t wait. These are the games that mean a lot to me come Sunday Morning. Two of these games have playoff implications, and one is just another step in shutting up a certain annoying group of old guys.
NFL Games of the Week:
Washington Redskins @ Minnesota Vikings: 8:15pm EST: 12-23-2007
New York Jets @ Tennessee Titans: 4:15pm EST: 12-23-2007
Miami Dolphins @ New England Patriots: 4:15pm EST: 12-23-2007
In what the schedulers intended to be a huge conference showdown late in the season that would almost surely distinguish playoff positioning between the two best teams in the AFC West, this will just be another meaningless game that the people at ABC try to pump up with helium and meaningless hoo-ha. However, it does mean something to some of us. This game will have huge fantasy implications, and it will do something, one way or another, to the Chargers’ playoff position. With San Diego playing hot of late, and the Broncos melting away like Michael Jackson’s face, will this game turn into a laugher? Or will another surprise be in store for the public?
Denver Broncos (6-8) @ San Diego Chargers (9-5)

It may seem crazy to you, but over the last 6 games the Steelers and Rams have the same record, 3-3. Yes, both teams have lost 2 of their last 3, and while the circumstances may be a little different for the playoff bound Steelers and the Top 5 pick bound Rams, I’m not so sure the talent level of these two teams is all that different. Will the big spread scare Pittsburgh backers away? Or will the public hinge on the hopes that Pittsburgh returns to their winning ways?
Thursday Night Football Matchup
Pittsburgh Steelers (9-5) @ St. Louis Rams (3-11)
Time: 12/20/2007 8:15pm EST on the NFL Network
In dire need of a win, the Bears go heads up with one of the best teams in the NFC over the last 5 weeks. Minnesota is making a charge to the playoffs, and with a strong running game and a playoff worthy defense, they’ll be a challenge for whomever draws them in the first round. But it may be too soon to squash the Bears and shoe in the Vikings - Monday Night’s game will give the public more of a basis for predictions, that’s for sure.
Chicago Bears (5-8) @ Minnesota Vikings (7-6)
