JACKSONVILLE JAGUARS

Trendy Underdogs: It may not seem like a great record, but the Jaguars have done work as an underdog. It is rare for a team to win even close to half of their games as an underdog, but the Jaguars are close, going 16-19 SU over the last 4 years. They almost win half of the games they’re expected to lose… That’s amazing. Even better, the Jags are 7 games over .500 as a dog ATS. 20-13-2 over their last 4 seasons. Also, away from home, the Jags defense is best known for their stingy play, allowing very little in terms of points, and therefore consistently finishing under the total, 14-21 O/U as a dog.

Over or Under: Over the last 4 seasons the Jaguars are 30-35 O/U. Last year, the Jaguars busted the over in each of their last 4 games to finish 9-7 O/U on the season. Last season, the Jags hit the over at home in 5 of their 8 contests. Historically, Jacksonville starts off the seasons with a dominant defense and a stale offense, going 9-13 O/U in the first 8 weeks of the season over the last 3 years.

Against the Spread: Against the spread, the Jaguars have tallied a 33-29-3 record over the last 4 years. As an underdog, the Jaguars are a comfortable 20-13-2 ATS, doing most of their disrupting out of their division, going 14-8-1 as a dog outside of the AFC South. The Jaguars were a very mediocre 8-7-1 ATS last season, but finished with a strong 6-2 record ATS at home. That was their 3rd .500 or better record against the spread in the last 4 seasons. The Jags were unbeaten ATS in the month of September from 2004-present, going 7-0-2 over that stretch.

Straight Up: The Jaguars were 34-31 SU from 2003-2006. The Jaguars were 8-8 in 2006, but finished 6-2 in Jacksonville. In 2005, the Jags told the same old story, playing well on their home-field on way to yet another 6-2 record. Jacksonville always seems to start out hot, as their 7-2 record over the last 3 seasons shows. After the initial excitement of the start of the season, the next 4 games are when the Jaguars come back to earth. In that same 3 year span, the Jags are 6-7 SU, and 5-7-1 ATS.

Home or Away: It just doesn’t seem to matter much. The Jaguars may be a little better at home than they are on the road, and their betting trends may be a little more distinguished, but home or away, the Jags always play like the Jags. In Jacksonville, the Jaguars have won 67% of their games over the last 3 seasons (16-8), gone 14-9-1 ATS, and consistently played under the total to the tune of 10-14 O/U. On the road the Jaguars are 13-11 SU, 12-10-2 ATS, and 12-12 O/U. Historically the have a tough defense, they don’t score many points, and they play a lot of close games, home and on the road.
