Betting Strategies: NFL Team History New York Jets

NEW YORK JETS

Instant Success: After a 4 win season under Herman Edwards, Eric Mangini was hired to replace the now Kansas City Chief Head Coach. Mangini installed his schemes and instantly turned the Jets into not only a NFL success, but a wagering wonder-team. The Jets finished the regular season 11-5 ATS and 10-6 SU. Compared to 2005’s records of 5-10-1 ATS and 4-12 SU, that’s quite the improvement. It will be interesting to see if the Jets can continue to chase the Patriots in the AFC East, as both teams made huge improvements over the off-season.

Over or Under: Over the last 5 seasons the Jets are 42-41-1 O/U. Last year, in Mangini’s first go ‘round as the head man, the Jets were 9-7 O/U. They finished over the total 5 times at home and 3 times on the road. Over those last 5 seasons, the Jets are 22-21 O/U away from home, and 21-19-1 in New York. The Jets were 5-2 O/U in divisional games in 2006

Against the Spread: The Jets were 5-3 ATS at home in 2006, and a remarkable 6-2 ATS on the road. Historically, the Jets have been right around even on the road, going 20-20-3 ATS over the last 5 seasons away from New York. In New York, the Jets have gone 23-15-3 ATS over the last 5 seasons. The Jets have done alright against their division, going 17-14 ATS most recently. They were 4-2 ATS last season against AFC East rivals.

Straight Up: Oddly, the Jets did most of their winning on the road last season, winning 6 games away from New York and only 4 games at home. That’s not normal for the Jets, who’ve, since 2002, lost 9 more games on the road than they’ve won. And usually (24-17 since 2002), the Jets are a better home team. Last year’s 10 victories marked the 3rd time in the last 5 seasons that the Jets finished with 10 or more wins.  The Jets are only 14-17 against their divisional opponents over the last 5 years.

Home Favorite!: Unlike the Giants who are around .500 at home, and under .500 ATS in New York. The Jets actually treat their home-field as if it were their home-field, with advantage and all. Over the last 5 seasons, the Jets are a fantastic 23-11-2 ATS as a home favorite, and 27-11 overall. New York has won 4 of their last 5 home games as a favorite, all of which took place last season.
