Betting Strategies: NFL Team History Philadelphia Eagles

PHILADELPHIA EAGLES

Garcia gets the Axe: Don’t get me wrong, I know Donovan McNabb is the guy in Philadelphia, but how could the Eagles just cut Jeff Garcia? Not only did Jeff lead the Eagles to 5 straight regular season wins and a playoff win against the division rival New York Giants, but against the spread, Jeff led the team to only 1 loss. Now that’s something I can appreciate. Garcia said he wanted to play in Philly again, and money wasn’t much of an issue. Still, Andy Reid and the Eagles axed good old Jeff. After all those ATS wins, I cant’ believe it.

Over or Under: The Eagles were 8-6-2 O/U last season, even though the totals didn’t change much with Donovan McNabb out of the lineup. Vegas expects a lot of points out of Andy Reid and the Eagles, giving them a total of 40 or greater in 13 games last season. The Eagles were 1-2 O/U with totals under 40. In 2005, the Eagles were 9-7 O/U, but piled up a 4-1 O/U record with totals under 40. Over the last 4 seasons, the Eagles are 32-34-4 O/U. Philly was 5-2-1 O/U on the road last season, as they only exceeded the over three times at home.

Against the Spread: The Eagles are 35-32 ATS over the last 4 seasons. Over the last 5 seasons at home, the Eagles are 25-20-1 ATS. On the road, they are 21-17-3 over that same 5 year span. Philly was only 8-6-2 ATS last season, despite a 4-1 ATS record to start the season, and a 3-0-2 ATS record to finish the year. The Eagles often start hot and end hot ATS.

Straight Up: The Eagles had a tough 2005, going 6-10, but have been very good over the last 5 seasons, collecting a 58-29 SU record. At home, the Eagles have been great, going 33-13 over that time span. Away from Philadelphia, the Eagles are pretty solid as well, winning 25 out of 41 road games. The Eagles were 5-3 on the road and at home last season. The Eagles are 23-10 in Weeks 1-8 over the last 4 seasons.

Hot Spots: In Weeks 1-4 over the last 4 seasons, the Eagles are 10-5 ATS and 11-4 SU. That’s an ATS win percentage of 67% and a SU win percentage of 73%. Both are very good, and better than the yearly average in Philly. The Eagles also have a solid SU record in Weeks 4-8 over that span, going 12-6. Their 8-10 ATS record isn’t as good. The Eagles often tail off in Weeks 8-12 before once again getting hot to end the season, going 11-7-2 ATS and 14-6 SU over the last 4 seasons.
