Super Bowl America's game – London Burning!!!

Written by Peter Childs on October, 17th 2007 | 0 Comments

That to me is going over the line. The NFL wants to take the biggest sports day of the year and celebrate it in jolly old England. That’s like going to Mexico on 4th of July and celebrating Independence day. The Super Bowl is more than just a game, it’s an American institution. Its an ‘unofficial’ National Holiday. You can’t take the party outside the USA.

And what about the economic impact of taking this game offshore? The Super Bowl generates billions of dollars for any US city that host the biggest game of the year, that money would be spent in London or Toronto? Garbage! Lastly, who in the hell wants to go to London or Toronto in the first week in February anyways? London has to be the gloomiest place on earth during that time of year. Its cold, rainy and just plain gray. As for Toronto, it gets wickedly cold in February, it gets unbearable to even walk around the city. I urge Roger Goodell to reconsider even considering this move of London hosting a Super Bowl. It’s a bad idea and again, would be offensive to your dedicated fans.
