An end of an Era? The demise of Monday Night Football.

While I’ll forgive them for that scheduling, I would like to note that it was the first time in my 25 years of watching MNF that I actually fell asleep during the game. Yes, it was a later start time than the 8:30 Eastern Time, but I fell asleep for the simple fact that it was BAD football involving BAD teams.

Looking at the rest of the Monday Night schedule, it’s littered with filth and BAD teams.  Starting this week with the Washington Redskins, a team that was 5-11 last year.  The only reason to watch this game is to see Coach “Old” (Head Coach Joe Gibbs was called Coach Joe back in the day when he understood the game and was winning Super Bowls) and his geriatric staff trying to grasp a game that’s completely passed them by.

Week 5 Monday Night Game features theBuffalo Bills hosting the Dallas Cowboys.  The Bills have an outstanding team, going 12-20 their last two years.  Who invited them to the Monday Night Party? This team hasn’t been relevant since it was losing Super Bowls with QB Jim Kelly and RB Thurman Thomas.  Week 10 sees the San Francisco 49ers heading north to take on the Seattle Seahawks.  OK, I gave the NFL a pass for putting on the 49ers as part of a double header, but why in the world did they schedule the 49ers to another Monday Night Game.  This teams record the last 4 years, 7-9, 4-12, 2-14 and 7-9.  Why am I force to watching this team play two featured Monday Night Games.  Ridiculous!!!  What’s even more ridiculous, the Tennessee Titans are also appearing twice on Monday Night TV.  Outside of QB Vince Young, why else would I want to watch this brutally bad football team.  Can you tell me any other player on that team outside of Vince Young?  And god forbid, if Vince Young gets hurt does that mean two helpings of back up QB Kerry Collins??  Oh the humanity!!!  But it only gets worse people.  Even with the allegations and rumors abound, before the NFL scheduled this Monday Night lineup, they went ahead and put the Atlanta Falcons on primetime Monday Night Football TWICE.

Yes, we get to see QB Joey Harrington and this rag tag bunch play two games on Monday Night.  I’m not sure what’s worse, dog fighting or subjecting a nation of football fans to watch Joey Harrington play football.  In all seriousness, the NFL has done a complete disservice to their fans and to the Monday Night Franchise.
