The Celtics weren’t able to finish off the Lakers in L.A. but they were able to capture one of the two games in California and will fly back to Boston with a 3-2 lead and two more games (if needed) on their home floor. Celtics fans have to love that, while the only thing Lakers’ fans can hold onto is the fact that they have Kobe Bryant and he is coming off a mediocre Game 5 - he’ll come out firing. Here’s what the series and the rest of the games look like…
L.A. Lakers vs. Boston Celtics (Boston Up 3-2)
The Lakers won Game 3, but the Celtics came out and made a statement that they weren’t going to come out and lay down just because they were playing on the road where they had struggled during the playoffs. The Lakers won by 6.
Game 4 was an interesting one. The Lakers stormed out to a huge first quarter lead, ending the quarter up 21 point with the game seemingly over. But, the Celtics stuck in there. They could only cut it to a gigantic 18 point lead at half, but roared out in the 3rd quarter, bringing themselves within two. Another strong finish for the C’s and they were up 3 games to 1.
Ray Allen struggled in Game 5 and Kevin Garnett wasn’t really a factor on the offensive side of the floor. Paul Pierce went nuts, but it wasn’t enough to get the Celtics over the edge, and they just came up short when they needed a bucket most. Down two with less than a minute left, Kobe Bryant stole the ball and all but finished the Celtics off with a dunk on the other end.

Most Recent Prediction: “Look out for the Celtics to win in 6. I don’t see L.A. taking all three games at home, not against the best road team in the NBA. Kevin Garnett will play out of his mind in one of these games, and that will give the Lakers absolutely no chance. Coming back to Boston for Game 6 with the series on the line, yeah, I don’t see L.A. taking that contest. I still like the Celtics, obviously, but it might be 6 instead of 7...”
Newest Prediction: You have to like the Celtics to come back and trounce the Lakers in Boston. I’ve said from the beginning that this series is Boston’s to lose, and game after game they’ve proven me correct. Boston may get behind or struggle to find offensive production from time to time, but all in all they are the team that the final always comes down to. At the end of the game they either put it away or get it very close. In Boston the Celtics will take game 6 and end this Finals showdown. If it goes 7, beware of the Kobe!!!
