NBA Power Ranking's Week 4
(Numbers in brackets notes last weeks rank and record.)
1. (1) Boston Celtics (14-2)
People realized this team would be a legit threat to win the NBA, but who thought they would only lose two games after one month of play? Team is playing good defense also, as
UNDERS are 5-10-1 in their games.
2. (3) San Antonio Spurs (15-3)
The Champs overtake the Suns, as they and the Celtics are now the only undefeated teams at home. Team had bit of injury scare with Tim Duncan's ankle injury, but he should be out only a few games.
3. (2) Phoenix Suns (13-4)
Team is in a weaker division than the Spurs, so they should finish with a better overall record. Still will be quite a battle to see who gets top seed in the West. Can Steve Nash finally lead his team to the NBA Finals?
4. (4) Orlando Magic (16-4)
has been a
MAGICal season in Orlando, as the team is a ridiculous 11-2 on the road. I still am a little skeptical about their point guards though.
5. (5) Utah Jazz (13-5))
Team has two more wins than the bottom three teams in their division. They are a much more balanced team than the Nuggets, so the division should be theirs. Floor general Deron Williams giving teammates easy shots and that has resulted in OVERS going 12-6 in their games.
6. (9) Detroit Pistons (11-5)
Winners of three straight, the Pistons have only one loss versus eastern conference foes. Another statistic that supports that the west is easily the better conference.
7. (7) Dallas Mavericks (12-6)
While totals in Maverick games have dipped in recent years, they seem like a good team to back in OVERS (13-5). If they continue to play below .500 on the road, they wont be contender.
8. (8) New Orleans Hornets (12-6)
Great point guard play by Chris Paul, has this team competitive in almost all games, as they are an awesome 8-1 in away games.
9. (6) Denver Nuggets (11-7)
Defensive player of the year Marcus Camby hasn't missed a beat, averaging over 14 ½ rebounds a game. When will his teammates start playing some D as well?
10. (10) LA Lakers (9-8)
With Phil Jackson signing a two-year contract extension last week, expect Kobe to remain a Laker at least this season. Team made the right move by not trading Andrew Bynum (who leads team in rebounding) for Jason Kidd last year.
11. (13)Houston Rockets (9-9)
Pretty much a ho-hum kind of season so far for the Rockets. At least they have some home games coming up as they have played 11 road games compared to only 7 in Houston.
12. (14) Toronto Raptors (10-8)
Jamario Moon might be the free agent pickup of the year, as all he has done is average 9 points, over 7 ½ rebounds, and lead the team in blocks (1.6). Like the makeup of this team, as they can have 3 or 4 different guys who can lead the team in scoring for a particular game (they have six players who average double figures in points).
13. (12) Cleveland Cavaliers (9-9)
Cavs are reeling, losers of three straight. Will they match the offer sheet for Anderson Varejao? They better, because they need all the help they can get after being non existent in the free agent market last offseason.
14. (16) Golden State Warriors (9-8)
After an awful start, Don Nelson's team is playing good ball, including an impressive 6-3 road record.
15. (17) Indiana Pacers (9-9)
Team is starting to turn the corner, but still a year or two away from being a contender.
16. (15) New Jersey Nets (8-9)
With Kidd, Jefferson, and Carter how can this team be only 4-6 at home?
17. (18) Washington Wizards (8-9)
With Gilbert Arenas out of the lineup, team seems to be playing less selfishly. Have 5th best record in East against Eastern Conference teams (5-5).
18. (10) Milwaukee Bucks (7-9)
Cant believe I have this team this high on the list. Just goes to show you how many bad teams there are this year in the NBA. Oh yeah, Gilbert Arenas is out 2 to 3 months.
19. (21) Atlanta Hawks (7-9)
With no real point guard, the Hawks are awful offensively, and as a result OVERS are just 4-12 in their games.
20. (20) LA Clippers (6-9)
After losing five in row, looking like the Clippers of old.
21. (19) Charlotte Bobcats (6-10)
Losers of a six in a row, they should be playing Tom Petty Free Falling before Bobcat games.
22. (26) Sacramento Kings (6-10)
Just a matter of time before they deal Ron Artest.
23. (23) Portland Trailblazers (6-12)
Team will be nasty when Oden returns next year. Until then, no shot at playoffs.
24. (21) Chicago Bulls (4-11)
Same record against the spread, as overall record. No reason this team should be this low.
25. (24) Miami Heat (4-13)
Dwayne Wade playing like Dwayne Wayne.
26. (27) Memphis Grizzlies (6-11)
Not saying much when you are only better than the Knicks, Sixers, T-wolves and Sonics.
27. (20) Philadelphia 76ers (5-12)
If you Philly fan, time to dust off the VHS tape of Dr. J' dunk against the Lakers.
28. (22) NY Knicks (5-11)
Isiah Thomas. Enough said.
29. (30) Seattle Sonics (3-15)
Have you made your deposit for Oklahoma Sonics season tickets yet?
30. (29) Minnesota Timberwolves (2-13)
Why did they trade Kevin Garnett again? Oh yeah, McHale used to be on the Celtics.
