NBA Power Ranking's Week 6

Written by Mike Perry on December, 20th 2007 | 0 Comments

(Numbers in brackets notes last weeks rank and record.)

1. (1) Boston Celtics (20-2)

Another undefeated week for the Celtics. Have covered four of their last five.

2. (2) San Antonio Spurs (18-6)

Defending champs have slumped a bit (losing 3 of 4), including suffering their first home loss at the hands of the Suns.

3. (3) Phoenix Suns (18-7)

Suns should be able to pass the Spurs record-wise over the next couple weeks, as Phoenix has just finished playing 7 of 9 on the road .

4. (9) Dallas Mavericks (17-9)

Mavs playing some good ball recently (winning 3 straight). Winning ways should continue, with 4 of 5 home games coming up.

5. (5) Detroit Pistons (17-7)

Pistons hitting on all cylinders, winning 8 of 10 (going 8-1-1 against the spread in the process)

6. (4) Orlando Magic (17-9)

When it comes to legit playoff contenders, Magic have to be discussed. But how long can they stay alive in the playoffs with the way Dwight Howard shoots free throws?

7. (10) LA Lakers (15-9)

Wouldn't want to be be playing this team anytime soon. They have covered six of seven, and now have a better than .500 record (6-5) on the road.

8. (7) Denver Nuggets (14-10)

Leading quite possibly the worst division in the league, although the Southeast isn't anything to write home about.

9. (8) Utah Jazz (14-12)

Some awful Jazz being played in Utah lately. They have lost 7 of 8, failing to cover in six of those games.

10. (13) Toronto Raptors (15-11)

Raptors need to win the first two games (Portland, Seattle) of their upcoming 5 game road trip (next three are much tougher: Phoenix, San Antonio, Houston).

11. (6) New Orleans (15-10)

Hornets have failed to cover five of seven. UNDERS are 17-8 this year in Hornet games.

12. (12) Houston Rockets (12-12)

Rockets are 9-14-1 both against the spread and against OVERS this year.

13. (14) Indiana Pacers (13-12)

As long as they keep their road record above .500 (now 8-5), they will be in the Eastern Conference playoff race.

14. (19) Portland Blazers (13-12)

Eight alarm fire in Portland. That's how many wins in the row, Portland has. They have covered every game during this red-hot streak.

15. (15) Washington Wizards (13-10)

Another hot team, winning four straight and six of seven (covering exactly the same during this stretch).

16. (11) Golden St. Warriors (14-11)

The Warriors have a good chance to win 2 of 3 on their upcoming road trip (Minnesota, New Jersey, Cleveland). Failed to cover in 5 of their last 7.

17. (17) Cleveland Cavaliers (11-14)

So they got Anderson Varejao back. Big deal, they need to make a trade for a legit point guard if they ever are going to make another playoff push like they did last year.

18. (16) Atlanta Hawks (12-12)

Have covered 4 of their last 6. UNDERS in Hawks' games are 17-7 so far this year.

19. (20) Philadelphia 76ers (10-14)

This team is finally playing halfway decent, having won five of six (covering four of those games). Still expect them to trade Andre Miller this season. Cleveland perhaps?

20. (16) New Jersey Nets (10-15)

If Wizard of Oz were casting NBA players the Tin Man, Vince Carter would be a front-runner for the role. Why do you think Jason Kidd is asking to get traded?

21. (18) Milwaukee Bucks (10-14)

If Bucks want to have the pretender label removed, they must play better than 2-12 on the road.

22. (23) Charlotte Bobcats (8-14)

This team is just 7-15 against the spread. Have a chance to make a run, with four of their next five at home.

23. (25) Chicago Bulls (8-14)

Just like the Bobcats, a woeful 7-15 ATS. Upcoming schedule not looking good either: road game in Boston on Friday and another road game day after Christmas against the Spurs. Ouch!

24. (24) Miami Heat (7-17)

Shaq looks like he ate Stanley Roberts.

25. (28) NY Knicks (7-17)

Isiah Thomas could kill Stanley Roberts, and he still wouldn't get fired.

26. (21) Sacramento Kings (10-14)

Will they trade Ron Artest? Might as well they aren't going to make layoffs anyway.

27. (26) LA Clippers (9-15)

Tough upcoming schedule over their next five (not in order of play: Phoenix twice, Spurs, Mavs, and then they get to take it out on the T-Wolves at home)

28. (27) Memphis Grizzlies (7-17)

Congrats Griz' fans, you are better than the Sonics and T-wolves.

29. (29) Seattle Sonics (7-18)

Kevin Durant and a bunch of guys who barely deserve to be in the NBA.

30. (30) Minnesota Timberwolves (3-20)

Al Jefferson and a bunch of guys who barely deserve to be in the NBA.
