Discussing the problem with the BCS series of bowl games and how they are all meaningless except the bowl game that host the National Title Game, in this case the Sugar Bowl
A follow up to the blog I wrote at the beginning of October on Texas A&M Coach Dennis Franchione, on how Texas A&M would be better served by replacing him as Head Football coach.
Blogging about how A-Rod and his Agent Scott Boras put themselves above the game of Baseball Sunday night by announcing that Rodriguez was opting out of the remaining 3 years and $80 plus million contract with the New York Yankees. Instead of waiting for the World Series to come to an end then making the announcement.
There is still another full month of games to be played, and this has been my favorite year of college football. The
biggest shocker occurred on the opening week, where Appalachian State
shocked the world and Michigan in the Big House. I mean there wasn’t even a spread on this game, as Appy. State is a Division 1-AA team. I don’t need to go in detail about
the other upsets, as you can just look at the rankings to see all of the teams with at least one loss.
Currently, there are only a few
things that bother me more than the Dane Cook “only One October” MLB Commercials. A couple of them involve baseball. First of all there are too many days in between series.
There was a lot more trade activity this season than usual,
with a whopping one trade happening . Chris Chambers was dealt from the winless Dolphins to San Diego, in hopes of
bolstering their passing game. While this trade makes sense for both teams, what doesn’t make any sense is why the
trade deadline occurs after just the 6th week of the regular season.
I am getting
sick and tired of seeing Heisman Trophy candidates being only offensive players, notably quarterbacks. The award is supposed to be awarded
to the best player in college player, not the quarterback with the most passing yards. It’s not for the signal caller on the best team either. That’s why
I want to throw things at the TV, when I see Colt Brennan’s name as “Heisman Hopeful” when I am watching a game.
For the better part of three quarters it appeared that the Cowboys were giving the Patriots all they could
handle (leading the Pats’ 24-21). But then Tom Brady took
charge and led his team on a 27-3 run to close out the game. Brady set a
personal record with 5 TD and passes, and had should have had 6 (Randy Moss was called for an unnecessary pass interference call).
We are a little over a quarter done with the NFL season, and Adrian Peterson has
emerged as the favorite (7/5) to the win the Rookie of the Year Award. He was leading the NFC rushing after four weeks and likely still would be the rushing
leader if Vikings didn’t have a bye last week. So the question many people up North are asking is
why hasn’t Peterson been in the game for the team’s last possession their last two games?
It has just been discovered that Texas A&M football coach Dennis Franchione has been
charging boosters $1200 a year for inside information about the program. I guess his $1.5 million annual salary is not enough. Now there are ways to make
supplemental income, and this is just wrong on so many levels that I would be
shocked if he is still coach after this year. The guy deserved to be
fired before this story broke out. This seasons 34-17 loss to Miami Florida (who just lost to North Carolina last week) was
upsetting enough for the program.
First, I would like to take this time to thank all the wonderful people at
Belmont.com for giving me the chance to be a part of this site. Now lets get to the heart of the matter, and that’s
