Peter Childs Week 14 NFL Picks

Titans pick

I like the Titans in this matchup vs. the Chargers. This will be back to back travel dates for the Chargers, who are coming off a big win on the road vs. the Chiefs. The win pretty much solidified the Chargers as champions of the AFC West. This is by no means a big game for the Chargers and after winning back to back games, I'm not sure what kind of effort the Chargers will bring on Sunday.

As for the Titans, they got back to their winning ways with a 28-20 win over AFC South rival Texans. The Titans were in a 3 game losing funk and needed last weeks win to get back into playoff contention. The Titans need to build off that momentum with a win this week. Basically, the Titans are in a must win spot this week if they want to remain in contention. I think we have the more motivated team, playing at home in a must win spot. Take the Titans.

Broncos -6.5

It's been a very disappointing season for the Broncos, but they are vastly superior to the Chiefs who have lost 5 straight. The Chiefs are playing bad football and have major issues at quarterback, which explains why they haven't scored more than 17 points in their last 4 games. This franchise has notoriously struggled playing at Denver, having lost their last 5 at Mile High. In fact, they've only been within 6.5 points at Mile High once in the past 5 years.

As for the Broncos, they showed very little effort last week in their game vs. the Raiders, which was understandable after their devastating loss to the Bears the week before. While this season has to be considered a disappointment for the Broncos, they have to be excited about their young QB Jay Cutler. Cutler is completing over 63% of his passes and has shown signs of brilliance this year. He can only get better and I'm sure this organization and Mike Shannahan are thrilled from what they've seen from Cutler. I think the Broncos are the much better team than that and after suffering 2 straight losses, will look to get back on track this week.

They've shown a history of success vs. the Chiefs at home, so it's a favorable matchup for the Broncos. The Chiefs won't be able to keep up with the Broncos in this game. Look for the Broncos to pound the ball vs. a Chiefs defense that has been gashed the last 2 games vs. the run. Against the Chargers, they gave up 191 rushing yards, against the Raiders they gave up 153 yards on the ground. Broncos have a great rushing attack and will be able to run the ball all day in this game. The Broncos win this game in a blowout.
