The opening Favorite for Best Picture is - No Country for Old Men at 9-5.
(Jan 09, 2008) - With just under two months until the 80th Academy Awards, Belmont.com is the FIRST to offer preliminary odds on whom the winner of the 'Best Picture' Award will be.
No Country for Old Men opens as a 9-5 favorite with
Juno close behind at 8-1. The highest grossing movie at $129,150,735 on the list is
American Gangster coming in at 8-1.
"This year's race for the Best Picture is truly anyone's guess, which makes it very exciting to bet. The current favorite, 'No Country for Old Men', is the odds on favorite but after that, it's really anyone's for the taking. This year's selections of movies are vastly different. "No Country for Old Men" is a dark violent movie from the Cohen Brothers, while "Juno" is a delightful movie about a serious subject, teen pregnancy. "American Gangster" is a biographical movie about Frank Lucas and his rise to notoriety dealing drugs. And "Atonement" is a period piece about forbidden love during World War II. With well over 6 weeks until Oscar night, there's no telling where this race is headed."
